"Tell Your Heart to Beat Again" is a song written past Bernie Herms, Randy Phillips, and Matthew W and originally recorded by Contemporary Christian-Worship trio, Phillips, Craig and Dean for their 12th studio album, Breathe In (2012).[1] Information technology was later recorded by American singer Danny Gokey for his 2nd studio anthology, Hope in Front of Me (2014), with product by Herms. Gokey's rendition was released to Christian radio Jan 8, 2022 through BMG-Chrysalis equally the anthology's third single.[2] The song reached number two on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, earning Gokey his highest-charting single to date.[iii]

In May 2016, an extended play featuring a Spanish version of the vocal, titled "Que Tu Corazón Vuelva a Latir", was released in promotion of Gokey's fourth studio anthology, La Esperanza Frente a Mi (2016), a Spanish re-recording of Hope in Front of Me.[four]

"Tell Your Heart to Vanquish Again" is a midtempo, piano-driven ballad written by Bernie Herms, Randy Phillips, and Matthew W. Initially composed in the style of Contemporary Christian music, Gokey's recording also includes influences of blueish-eyed soul and land pop. According to the sheet music published by BMG Rights Direction, "Tell Your Heart to Beat Again" is composed in the key of D Small and set in common time ( 4

) to a "flowing" tempo of approximately 67 BPM.[five] The song follows a chord progression of E – Dm7 – B sus2 – F5 – Csus4 and includes a two octave song range spanning from C4 through C6.[5] Lyrically, the song tells a story of starting over and moving on after a tragedy, with the narrator's religion in God bolstering his resilience.[6]

Music video [edit]

An accompanying video was directed past Kristin Barlowe and premiered June ane, 2016.[7] It focuses on a woman who releases her sadness through trip the light fantastic and a man who takes up boxing to defend himself later on a mugging incident, both shown to accept grown stronger through their struggles.

The video received a nomination for Brusque Grade Video of the Yr at the 2022 GMA Dove Awards.[8]

Commercial [edit]

"Tell Your Center to Beat Again" entered the Christian Songs chart dated August viii, 2022 equally an anthology runway.[9] It re-entered at 32 on the chart dated January ii, 2022 following the announcement of its release as a single.[10] The song reached its peak position of ii on the chart dated Apr 16, 2022 and was the week's greatest gainer in digital sales.[11] In reaching this position, the song surpassed 2014's "Promise in Front of Me" as Gokey's highest-charting entry.[12] It peaked at number two on the Christian Digital Songs sales chart the same week.[13]
